Ballabh Modani founded Traxo Capital to give investors direct access to short-duration trade finance for mid-market commodity traders worldwide, secured by the goods themselves. Ballabh serves as Chief Executive Officer, leads the fund’s strategy and investment decisions, and sits on its board and investment committee.
Career
Ballabh Modani has 25 years of experience in commodity markets and has led four successful commodity trading platforms across three trading hubs. Across these businesses, Ballabh has headed trade books and transacted more than US$1 billion in physical coal, petroleum, petrochemical and base metal flows.
In Singapore, Ballabh was Chief Executive Officer of Maple Natural Resources and a director and shareholder of Alpha Nations. Ballabh currently runs GAIA FZE in the UAE and Grassroots Energy in India, an active petroleum and base oil trading business.
Ballabh is a Chartered Accountant with a Master’s in Economics, and has a background in investment banking at ENAM and Religare. That combination of banking discipline and trading experience shapes how Traxo lends.
